Land Ahoy

I was telling E about my strange encounter with the ghost – or whatever – of Bunty Winterthorne and she hinted I might find out more about the mysterious paintings on my walls at our first port of call, the Island of the Temple People. She was most mysterious but gave me the address of a tavern, and told me to ask for a famous pirate called Sinbad. Sinbad? Sinbar? Could it be? I shall cetainly follow up her suggestion. She would say no more but smiled in that enchanting way of hers.

I am looking forward to the Island – we have all been invited to dress up and attend the carnival. I will dig out my tarot cards and one of my Lemurian dresses and go as a Gypsy fortune teller. Who knows, I may even read some fortunes!

In the meantime, the moon is very bright and full over the Lemurian sea, the night air is warm, and it is far too lovely a night to be in my cabin. I will find a deck chair on the top deck and lay back to wait for the sunrise.

  1. Ooo. In your guise as a fortune teller, would you consider giving our Lizzie a reading please, Sea Gypsy/Gail?

  2. I could use a reading myself.

  3. Hi Gypsy
I was there tonight, and there is another mysterious fortune teller there…perhaps you could meet up with her and find out what lies ahead for the Vulcania!

  4. I do wonder about knowing what lies ahead. I may not be strong enough to get out of my bunk if I am given too much information :-)

One thing is for sure. The Island of the Temple People is a very busy place.

  5. do you have rituals to help you prepare for fortune telling sessions? Must you clear your mind, pray for guidance, burn candles?
And who tells the gypsy her fortune???

Gail: Gypsies don’t tell their own fortunes – it needs the clear and unbiased eye of another.
And no, no particular rituals. In a fair or carnival setting there’s no time for that, with people coming at you – but occassionally someone with a very strong desire to know can `take over’ the reading ahead of them. This has actually happened.

  6. A carnival? A fortune teller? Wow! Sounds interesting.
